W10 Family Dynamics

 *The locus of pathology means that the location of the problem does not lye with an individual but within the dysfunctional system that they are apart of.

*Both positive and negative feedback can be good or bad.

    >negative = no change

    >positive = change

*When a set of objects work together, they create something new or better.

*The "mover" initiates an action

*Random families have very little rules and boundaries

*Closed families are secretive and do not like outsiders. They tend to create mental illness.

*If we accept a new behavior it is called morphogenesis

*If we reject a new behavior it is called morphostatis

*Linear tries to assign blame

* Circular shares responsibility. Focuses on what instead of why.

*The identified patient is whomever a unit believes to be the major cause of problems

*A double bind occurs when there are two opposing or contradicting demands and an inability to discuss the discrepancy
