Learning to Recognize Answers to Prayers by Elder Scott: "Our sincere efforts to thank our beloved Father generate wondrous feelings of peace, self-worth, and love."
"If you seek His help, be sure your life is clean, your motives are worthy, and you're willing to do what He asks..."
Discussion post: Answers to prayers are more challenging than scientific answers because most people in the world are more willing to accept the evidence that supports scientific answers than they are to accept spiritual answers. I like that Elder Scott pointed out that we all have the choice to either rationalize away the impressions in our heart or use our mind to accomplish that impression. I think that too many of us disregard the choices that we make on a daily basis. To say that someone else made me angry or offended me, takes away the choice that I made. I thoroughly agree with Elder Richins that gratitude was the most important part of the talk. "Our sincere efforts to thank our beloved Father generate wondrous feelings of peace, self-worth, and love." I have been able to recognize that being grateful for what I have in my life has made me feel better but I had never thought about self-worth. Whenever I am feeling bad about myself, I am ordinarily focused on what others do better or what I don't have. But not having everything is a good thing. Puzzles are only puzzles because they aren't put together beforehand. I used to be upset that I don't get very many yes' or no's from God but I now know that God is quiet because He wants us to learn to be self-reliant. It is yet another reason that I like the self-reliance program.
